Using LUTs in other apps

Luttie doesn't install a plugin into your editing app. You export a LUT, a standard .cube file, and load it the way that app loads any LUT.

DaVinci Resolve

1. In Resolve, open Project Settings → Color Management → Open LUT Folder, copy the .cube in, then click Update Lists.
2. On the Color page, right-click a node and choose LUTs, then your file.

Putting the LUT on its own node lets you adjust its strength with the node's key output. Full Resolve guide.

Premiere Pro

In Lumetri Color → Creative → Look, choose Browse and select the .cube. The Intensity slider under it sets the strength. Full Premiere guide.

Final Cut Pro

Add the Custom LUT effect to a clip, then in the Inspector set LUT to Choose Custom LUT File…. Its Mix slider sets the strength. Full Final Cut guide.

CapCut

• CapCut desktop: Adjustments → LUT → Import, then apply it to the clip. Full CapCut guide.
• CapCut on a phone can't import custom LUTs. Grade in Luttie and bring the exported image or video in instead.

Photoshop

Add a Color Lookup adjustment layer (Layer → New Adjustment Layer → Color Lookup) and load the .cube in its 3DLUT File menu. Lower the layer's opacity to reduce the strength. Full Photoshop guide.

Add an adjustment layer, apply Apply Color LUT and choose the file. Full After Effects guide.

Lightroom

Lightroom can't load a .cube directly. Adobe Camera Raw can build one into a profile, which Lightroom then lists alongside your other profiles.

If the LUT looks wrong

• Far too contrasty or saturated: the LUT was probably built for normal (Rec.709) images and is being applied to log footage, or the other way round. Match the LUT to the footage. See Log footage.
• Too strong: lower the app's intensity or opacity control, or export with Also export at 50% and 75% strength.
• Missing vignette or grain: LUTs can't carry those. See what goes into the LUT.
