What trips people up in CapCut

The three things worth knowing before you blame the LUT.

Getting the file onto the phone is the hard part

It's why the QR handoff exists. Emailing a .cube to yourself or routing it through a cloud drive works, but it's several more steps and some apps mangle the file extension.

Dial the strength down

A look built on a bright reference frame usually reads too strong over phone footage. Start around 60–70% and work up.

Grade before you add text and effects

Applying a LUT after overlays tints the graphics too. Get the colour right on the footage first.

Custom LUTs in CapCut

Can you import custom LUTs into CapCut?

Yes. CapCut supports importing .cube files through the LUT panel under Adjustment on both mobile and desktop. The awkward part on mobile is getting the file onto the device, which is what Luttie's QR handoff solves.

How do I get a .cube file onto my phone for CapCut?

In Luttie, use Send to phone and scan the QR code — the file saves directly to your phone's storage, ready to import. No cable, email, or cloud drive round-trip.

Are CapCut filters the same as LUTs?

Close, but not identical. CapCut's built-in filters are presets baked into the app and shared by every user. A LUT is a portable colour-mapping file you make yourself, so your grade is yours and works in other editors too.

Stop using the same filters as everyone else.
