Convert Apple Log before you grade it
Log footage is recorded flat on purpose: it holds highlight and shadow detail far outside what a display can show. A look LUT does not expand that range, so applied straight to log the image stays washed out and the highlights stay dead. Convert to Rec.709 first, then grade on top. Technical transform, then look, in that order.
The workflow
Turn Apple Log on
Settings, then Camera, then Formats, then Apple ProRes with Log selected. It is off by default.
Record to an external SSD
ProRes at 4K60 fills internal storage quickly. USB-C to an SSD is the practical limit people hit first.
Convert to Rec.709
One conversion. These LUTs contain it, so you do not also apply Apple's.
Grade on top
Works in any editor, including the ones on the phone itself.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max were the first, and every Pro model since. It has to be enabled in Settings, Camera, Formats, with Apple ProRes and Log selected.
No. The CapCut mobile app has no custom LUT import — that is a desktop-only feature. On a phone, grade in the Luttie editor first and import the already-graded file into CapCut.
The pack includes five film stock looks built for Apple Log 2, marked (Apple Log 2); use those on Apple Log 2 footage. The neutral conversion and the other four looks were made for the original Apple Log. Apple Log 2 keeps the same curve but records a wider colour gamut.
No. These already contain the Apple Log to Rec.709 conversion. Stacking Apple's underneath converts the footage twice.
These are built for Apple Log. Standard iPhone video is already in Rec.709, so use the free LUT library or the editor's presets instead.
