LUTSmith alternative · The whole grade, then the LUT
Grade the shot,
not just the LUT.
LUTSmith is a free, local LUT maker: pick a reference frame, adjust, and download a .cube with no account. It's a good tool for that one job. Luttie is a grading editor that also exports LUTs, with scopes, more log formats, a film engine, AI grading, RAW photos and video export in the same browser tab.
Where the two differ.
- Check it on scopes, finish it in the editorLUTSmith shows a histogram. Luttie adds a waveform, RGB parade and a vectorscope with the skin tone line, updating as you grade, so you can see where highlights clip and whether skin sits on the line. The grade can then leave as a LUT, a Lightroom profile, a finished photo or an MP4; LUTSmith's output is the .cube.
- More log formats, decoded properlyLUTSmith's source menu lists S-Log3, Apple Log, C-Log3 and Panasonic V-Log. Luttie's film engine decodes those and S-Log2, C-Log2, C-Log, N-Log, Apple Log 2 and DJI D-Log too, curve and gamut, with camera LUTs for D-Log M.
- Film stocks and AI on topLuttie develops the image through 17 modelled negative, slide and black-and-white stocks, adds grain, halation and bloom, and builds grades from a text prompt or a reference image. LUTSmith works from sliders, curves and a reference frame.
