luttie 3.0: the film engine

the biggest change to luttie since it started. the new film panel runs your image through a model of how colour film works: light exposes a negative, and the negative is printed or scanned. the look comes from those two stages, not from a filter on top.

film

  • negatives shaped after kodak vision3 500t and 250d, portra 400, ektar 100 and fuji eterna 500. pick one and film switches on
  • print: cinema print (after kodak 2383), soft print (after fuji 3513di), or scan for the film photography look
  • source: tell it the footage is sony s-log3, canon c-log3, nikon n-log, apple log or dji d-log, and it decodes the log curve and gamut itself, with no conversion LUT
  • exposure, push and pull, printer lights, crosstalk and strength, the controls a lab would have had

grading with the film engine is free. saving the result as a LUT is part of pro. the film engine docs go through every control.
