change one colour with hue curves
the curves panel has a second page. switch it from rgb to hue for the four curves resolve colourists use to fix one colour without touching the rest.
the four curves
- hue vs hue: shift one colour toward its neighbours, up to 60° either way. a green sky goes teal, red skin goes back to orange.
- hue vs sat: saturate or mute one colour, like muting loud greens in foliage.
- hue vs lum: brighten or darken one colour by up to a stop, like a deeper blue sky.
- lum vs sat: saturation by brightness. take it down in the shadows for cleaner blacks.
how they work
- each hue curve starts with six points, one per primary and secondary, so dragging one colour only bends the curve between its neighbours.
- press pick and click the photo to add a point at that colour's hue.
- greys are left alone, so a hue curve won't tint a white wall or put colour into noise.
- they're free, they're baked into an exported .cube like the rest of the grade, and the node graph lists them as their own stage after curves.
